I always have a boxed cake mix on hand, mainly because I pick up extra when they are on sale. So, when I saw this tip I decided it was worth a try.
According to Budget Savvy Diva you are to replace the water for milk, the vegetable oil for butter (x2), plus add one more egg; two if you like your cake rich. For the Betty Crocker Super Moist Yellow Cake Mix it called for 1 cup water, 1/2 cup vegetable oil and 3 eggs. So, I used 1 cup milk, 1 cup melted butter (two sticks) and five eggs. I like my cake rich. Yeah. Don’t judge me. Ha!
I did have to cook my cake a little longer than the boxed directions called for. It took approximately 45 minutes for a 13×9 glass pan.
This was so good that I didn’t even add icing. Just a cup of coffee and a delicious piece of cake! My day is complete.
